About Us

CowsCompass Hedging is an introducing brokerage firm offering traditional risk management for agricultural producers through commodity hedging, but with a customized, personal approach. Our company is driven by our values and the relationships we have and continue to build with our clients. We clear all our trades through R.J. O'Brien. Our allied company, Compass Ag Solutions, provides expanded consulting, risk management and analysis services.

Our staff has a vested interest in the cattle industry, and a unique perspective to risk management. At Compass Hedging, we believe that:

  • You cannot manage what you cannot measure.
  • Knowing one's position is primary to any risk management plan.
  • A successful risk management strategy must align with the overall goals of each individual company.
  • "Risk management" refers to the actual process of identifying the right amount of risk for each firm in relation to their goals and restraints and is not simply a justification to trade.
  • A hedge plan takes the customer's business model to the market place - not the opposite.
  • Our goal is to get the right information to the right people at the right time to make the right decision.
